Malaria… Surely not!

Once was bad luck, twice was rough, but three times??
This time was confusing. For 24 hours it was a massive head cold, sneezy sinus-clogging sore-throaty head cold.

But as that started to clear, the rest of me started to feel that by now familiar fever and weakness. Blood test confirmed. Seems you CAN get a recurrence but probability is it’s a new infection after so many weeks.

Having time on my recuperating hands, once again, at home with Lonart, pseudoephadrine, panadeine, water and wonderful pineapple, I turned for some reason to the blog site of Eva, who if you’ve been following, is a medical student working in Nsinze, not far away.

It’s a very insightful blog, says lots about the medical system here, please give it a read. Makes me grateful to be able to afford another $10, for blood test, doctors consultation and three courses of drugs… And I’m fully insured.

An evening in the Mussel Inn, playing scrabble, supping a good ale and listening to a man from England singing, playing guitar and telling some ‘bob like’ jokes, then on to Sans Souci’s inimitable (defying imitation!!! Collins English Dictionary) compost lou………………might take your mind off the horrible insect that causes such damage to you Sim!

Hope you’re feeling a bit better by now….. Your whalebone is looking after you X
