Shelling, hulling and milling

“Value added”… That’s what our farmers are demanding, and I can’t blame them.

Our animal traction project, funded by micro-loans has allowed them to grow more maize but now they are being offered really low spot market prices. Why can’t MTCEA store their crops, process them, add value and find a good market for the resulting maize flour? The answer is simple, no money to invest in the building and machinery….. YET.

… One day we’ll have these facilities and I hope our store room is a bit cleaner than this one I visited today!
